The popularity of Ultherapy is growing more widespread every day. It is now one of the most popular non-invasive facelift procedures in Canada. But how do you take care of your skin after an Ultherapy session? In this article, we’ll be talking about Ultherapy aftercare and how to make sure you get the longest-lasting results.
What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is the only non-invasive FDA cleared procedure that helps lift the skin around the neck, under the chin, and on the eyebrow. Using ultrasound energy, it is able to bypass the surface of the skin and deliver the right amount of energy at accurate depths and at the perfect temperature. Since there is no downtime to Ultherapy, Ultherapy aftercare is rather easy.
What Happens During the Ultherapy Session?
After cleansing the skin and identifying the specific areas to be treated, your Ultherapy practitioner will apply the ultrasound gel and place the smooth treatment applicator against your skin. Next, your provider will use Ultherapy’s ultrasound imaging to first see deep within the skin to determine optimal placement of the treatment energy, and then deliver the focused ultrasound energy beneath the skin’s surface.
During the treatment delivery, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated.
Comfort levels can vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the energy is being delivered.
The length of your treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. A face and neck procedure typically takes 60-90 minutes, while a chest treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.
Ultherapy Aftercare: What You Should Avoid
As we mentioned before, since Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure that requires no downtime, you return to your regular day-to-day activities right away. You may experience slight tenderness or sensitivity immediately after the procedure, but these go away in a couple of days.
Redness and swelling might appear also, depending on how your skin reacts to treatments. However, it is rare that this stays for more than a day or two post-treatment.
After your Ultherapy treatment you should avoid:
- Hot Sauna’s, Yoga, and Steam
- Sleeping directly on the treated area
- Exercise that causes you to sweat
- Tanning and direct sunlight
- Medication that causes blood to thin
- Any other treatments that may change or alter the treated area.
The last restriction is there because it takes up to 3 months for the results of Ultherapy to reach its full potential. After the 3 month mark, you can continue with other treatments or procedures that pertain to the treatment area. However, we do highly recommend waiting for your Ultherapy results to finish taking place first!
Ultherapy Works For All Ages
Whether your issue is aging, stubborn fat under your chin, or you have sagging skin due to weight-loss, Ultherapy is a great option for adult clients of all ages. There are certain scenarios where you may not be the best candidate for Ultherapy, which is why we highly recommend going to a clinic that provides consultations to discuss your personal skin goals and needs.
