What is PicoWay For Dark Spots?
PicoWay is an FDA-cleared picosecond laser that treats acne scars, wrinkles, benign pigmented lesions (dark spots) and tattoo removal. PicoWay first became known for its tattoo and pigment removal capabilities, but it is now growing in use for acne scars and wrinkles. With the 532 nm and 1064 nm wavelengths for the system, laser irradiation is selectively absorbed by the targeted pigment with minimal effect on the surrounding tissue. This is accomplished by careful selection of the wavelength that yields maximum absorption by the target and minimum absorption by surrounding skin structures. In addition, the laser pulse duration is controlled to be equal to or shorter than the thermal relaxation time of the target, to minimize heat transfer to surrounding tissues. PicoWay’s dual wavelengths enable removal of multi-colored tattoos, recalcitrant tattoos and benign pigmented lesions on any skin type.
What to expect?
After a consultation, we can help you decide the best treatment option in order to achieve your goals. We will also let you know how many treatments you will need to reach your desired results. Once we’ve confirmed your treatment plan, we will go over the treatment area once and then again for specified targety areas. Most clients do not experience any discomfort. You will however, hear a light zapping noise.
Post-procedure, you will experience some redness in the treatment area. We will apply a cooling gel to soothe the skin which will already diminish some of the redness. PicoWay for darkspots requires no downtime.
All redness will subcide after a couple of hours. Scabs will form in the specific treatment areas and will naturally fall of in 1-2 weeks, revealing clear skin underneath.
