What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers (also called soft tissue fillers) are a non-surgical injectable treatment used to restore facial volume, create youthful facial contours, add volume to lips, and smooth out and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and folds. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS), dermal fillers are the most common non-surgical procedure after BOTOX®, and are typically used as part of an ongoing skin maintenance routine.
Dermal fillers are generally used for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, and for adding volume and fullness to skin beginning to suffer from volume loss. Dermal fillers can also be used for cheek and chin augmentation, and to nonsurgically reshape the nose.

What to expect?
As dermal fillers are inserted by injection, you will have redness and mild to medium swelling at the entry points. However, this will subside within a couple days.
Some clients also experience some bruising at entry points as well, but may also be avoided if you
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours pre-and post treatment.
- For a week before and after the procedure, avoid blood thinners such as aspirin, Ibuprofen and Vitamin E, as well as certain food supplements such as fish oil, liquorice, garlic, ginger, ginkgo and green tea.
- Avoid sun and heat exposure
- Avoid exercise other than walking immediately post-treatment.
There is no downtime with dermal fillers. You may experience mild swelling and bruising but this will subside in a couple days max. You may resume daily activities immediately after the procedure. Redness and bruising can be covered up with make up if you’d like.
